Still playing a bit of catch up with the blog. It has been tough in the first few days as a lot has been happening and we still don't have a daily rhythm yet. Today is actually Tuesday as we look back to remember what happened yesterday! We should be 'on track' by tomorrow or Thursday!
We woke up Monday morning to a beautiful sunny day. The views from our terrace never get boring! We had a bit of a rough night's sleep, still working through the jet lag adjustment, but managed to sleep in until about 8:00. We had a very nice breakfast downstairs and talked to the two ladies at the front desk about a tour route for the day. We wanted to seem a couple of small picturesque towns that we had not visited before and they suggested two great options, both very close by. The first was Neive, which was the smaller and more historic of the two. The second was Barbaresco, known as more of a wine center.
Neive was really quaint, but it also required a bit more of an uphill walk than we had been anticipating. We made the climb......but it caught up to us in the evening! Barbaresco was also quite charming and we found a wonderful outdoor cafe for lunch. It was a great and 'low key' meal and a nice chance to unwind a bit.
Nice to see some local Gin in Barolo country!
