We had a great night's sleep and awoke to a beautiful sunny day! It seems a bit repetitive, but it is the truth. This trip has had totally amazing weather in both Italy and the UK......sun every day. It make such a difference in your perception. We headed down to breakfast on the terrace at a leisurely pace, not wanted to race out of this wonderful 'Tresanton' environment. After breakfast we walked over to the beach club one more time, actually to buy a hat and a t-shirt........running into our pal (I think his name was Talon......which is a bit scary!). He was fun to talk with, allowing us to defer our departure a bit.
We finally checked out about 11:00. One of the bellman disappeared to wherever the stored the car overnight and drove it down to the street in front of the hotel. He loaded the bags and we headed out........driving briskly up the one late street to the castle where the road widened a bit......and fortunately did not meet any other vehicles!
The drive to Lympstone was more of a hike today.......almost 3 hours. We still had the first hour on the skinny roads leading out of St. Mawes, beautiful and becoming a bit more acceptable to us. We finally reached what one could call a real highway (motorway) that allowed us to get where we needed to go at a more reasonable pace. Again, we seem to be able to fit in late lunches in most of these 'travel'
days. We got to Lympstone around 2:00 and were warmly welcomed and shown to a table on the lawn for a light lunch. What a beautiful place. Stopping here and will pick up later in the afternoon when we headed down to the pool for a swim.
